Keep in mind that all of your Compiz settings are part of the “Gnome-specific settings” and will be lost by using rm -rf .gnome .gnome2 .gconf .gconfd .metacity

I searched for the title of his because a website in Aus is so annoyed at IE7 they’ve started charging 6.8% extra as a tax to the idiot users.

I realise this is old, but as it isn’t a forum i see no problem in replying
The tips mentioned by anaconda and jonas will not work when cp’ed into a terminal, because they use some wierd hyphens (I assume it’s a problem with wordpress) if you use two single hyphens without space betwee however, they work ( hyphen = – )

Go to Terminal, type: gconf-editor
And then follow the steps. Now I know it is 2011 and I’m using Ubuntu 11.04 and it is working great.

This was a life saver for me. I was messing around with some open source theme software and it completely killed my gui. I was able to run this command from the command line I was getting at startup and it fixed everything.

The problem seems to be with my installation. I am using the Classical Gnome with Ubuntu 11.10 and had to add gnome-panel. When right-clicking on a tex file and selecting Properties>OpenWith the Add button it present, but it is grayed-out and non-functional. So evidently Nautilus is missing something which will make the Add button available. But what?

It is irritating to have to right-click and select TeXMaker from the context menu every time I want to open a LaTeX file rather than just clicking on the file.
